Training as an information electronics technician specializing in fire protection and hazard detection systems

How did you hear about our company, and what made you choose us?

I saw the vacancy on an online job board and applied for it. The decisive factors were the open and friendly colleagues, and the wide range of opportunities I could see for my future career.

What was your career path from graduating from school to beginning your training?

I initially completed training to become a warehouse logistics specialist, but I quickly realised that it wasn't for me. Nevertheless, I successfully completed the training and then decided to apply for further training at Frequenz. I immediately felt at ease during the interview because the focus was on finding the right decision for me.

How were you welcomed by your department? What is the general atmosphere like within the company?

It was very nice and friendly. I particularly liked the fact that I was allowed to carry out tasks that would usually be carried out by a skilled worker. Overall, I think the departments work well together and understand each other, but there is room for improvement in communication between them.

You graduated recently – what advice would you give to those about to do the same?

You should try things out and gain as much insight as possible into working life. There's nothing wrong with doing another apprenticeship after your first one, either.

What qualities and areas of academic knowledge do you think are important for the training program?

In principle, no prior knowledge is necessary, as everything is taught in a simple, detailed manner. However, it would be advantageous to have some basic knowledge of electrical engineering. Important soft skills include independence, quick comprehension, and openness when interacting with colleagues. I think my strengths are that I'm a quick learner, ambitious, and able to work independently and get along well with my colleagues.

What are the pros and cons of dual training?

You can focus entirely on school and engage more actively with your studies. The only problem is that you're out of the loop after a four-week break.

Did the company provide you with support during difficult situations, such as exams or problems with employees or customers, during your training?

Yes, absolutely. As a trainee, if you want something explained or need help, you have to approach skilled workers or department heads on your own initiative. Fortunately, everyone is very helpful.

What has been the biggest challenge you have faced during your training so far?

So far, I have only taken part one of the final exam because it took place in Berlin, so it was not possible to prepare thoroughly for the upcoming material.

What are your responsibilities at Frequenz?

Responsibilities include maintaining and assisting with the installation of fire alarm systems, as well as laying and patching data cables.

What was the best moment of your training so far, and what do you remember most?

There are many wonderful moments, but, above all, the best ones are when you're just having fun with your colleagues. I will also remember the first annual department hiking day because I had never experienced anything like it before, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere outside of work.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I often play games on my computer. Every now and then, I also hang out with friends.

What are your plans for the future?

Once I have completed my training, I would like to remain with the company to continue gaining experience.
