Before we discuss training topics, we would like to find out a little more about you. What do you like to do in your free time?
I enjoy going to Zumba classes and playing football. I also really enjoy meeting up with my friends and doing things with them.
Which values are particularly important to you?
The ones I live by and that have helped me in my work at the company from the outset are openness, helpfulness and creativity.
Let's go back to the beginning of the timeline. What was your career path from leaving school to starting your training?
I graduated from secondary school in Ottendorf-Okrilla in 2019. After that, I went on holiday with my family and enjoyed my last few days of freedom. Then I prepared myself mentally and emotionally for the training programme.
Had you completed vocational training before joining us?
Yes, before EURONICS, I successfully completed a two-year training programme as a sales assistant at Deichmann. I then added a third year of training here to qualify as a retail saleswoman.
How did you find out about our company, and what made you choose us?
I came across the company through ads on Instagram and Facebook. The opinions of my family were important to me when making my decision, as was the short commute to work - I'm from Radeberg, after all. My own positive shopping experiences also played an important role: whenever I shopped at Euronics, I was always given a warm welcome and good advice.
Did you know from an early age what you wanted to do for a living?
No, at first I always wanted to work with children, but then I did a work placement at a kindergarten in Year 9 and realised it wasn't for me. Later, at the 'Karrierestart' careers fair, I became interested in a career in retail. Today, I can say that it was the right decision, as I really enjoy interacting with customers.
Was it difficult for you to start your career?
Yes, to be honest. When I was at school, I finished at 2 pm at the latest, so I had plenty of time for other things. Now that I'm working, I have regular hours and have to fit everything else in around them.
What has been the biggest challenge so far?
At the beginning of my training, I found it hard to talk to customers on the phone and build relationships with them. But challenges are there to be faced!
Did you find it difficult to switch between vocational school and working for the company?
No, not at all, because it made things very varied. I went to school two days a week and worked three days a week.
How were you received by the team, and what is the atmosphere like at the company?
I was welcomed very warmly and openly by all the team members. At the beginning, my trainer introduced me to each employee individually. Then she showed me all the tasks in my department. The atmosphere is very relaxed. We can laugh together at jokes and pranks.
But it's not all fun and games. Did you receive adequate support in challenging situations?
Yes, definitely. During exam time, for example, I was offered time to study at work, which gave me more time to prepare for school and upcoming exams. If there were any problems with employees or customers, I had a designated contact person. Together, we were always able to find a solution.
Were there any opportunities for further training or development after your training at the company?
Yes, there were, and I made extensive use of them. I took part in numerous training sessions, team meetings and courses to learn more about and familiarise myself with exciting new products. As well as online meetings, I attended two- or three-day training sessions in person in Nuremberg or Bayreuth. These sessions also provided a valuable opportunity to discuss.
Which projects or events do you remember most?
I remember the law training courses at the Parkhotel in Dresden and the Siemens training courses in Chemnitz, as the atmosphere was completely different there.
Finally, what is your overall conclusion, and what advice would you give to students who are about to graduate?
My advice would be to focus fully on their final exams first, so they can leave school with good grades. After that, they shouldn't put themselves under pressure and should approach their training with a relaxed attitude. They should always be true to themselves and not be afraid of big challenges.
